Announced:May 1, 2024
Effective:Oct 31, 2024

Policy Notes

As of May 2024, hundreds of corporate employees in Dallas, Atlanta, and Toronto offices were required to relocate to one of three main hubs: Bentonville, Arkansas (corporate headquarters), Hoboken, New Jersey, or a central hub in Southern California. A hybrid schedule is allowed where employees can work remotely part-time but must be in the office for the majority of their work week. Employees were given until July 1, 2024, to confirm relocation, with moves expected by October 31, 2024. Those unable to relocate were required to leave the company between August 2024 and January 2025, with severance packages offered. The policy primarily affects corporate and technology staff. Walmart offered relocation assistance ($15,000 - $30,000) and tax offset assistance. The company's rationale includes fostering better collaboration, innovation, and mentorship opportunities. Walmart is developing a new 350-acre campus in Bentonville, scheduled to open in 2025.
