Policy Notes

Vodafone's hybrid working policy has been in place since 2021 following the pandemic, requiring employees to be in-office 2-3 times a week or at least 8 days a month. In March 2025, the company began strictly enforcing compliance with threats of disciplinary action. Employees not fully compliant by end of Q1 (July 2025) may face disciplinary action. Continued non-compliance could result in a final written warning, making employees ineligible for bonuses in 2026 and subsequent years. The company heightened enforcement efforts during the 6-9 months prior to March 2025, transitioning from encouragement to mandate. Implementation challenges include limited office space at Newbury and Paddington offices, offshoring roles to Spain, Romania, and India, and some employees on legacy home-based contracts. Employees report that most collaboration still happens via video calls with colleagues in other offices or locations. Vodafone promotes remote work benefits in its marketing materials for business customers while enforcing RTO internally. The policy applies to Group UK employees; those on home-based or field-based working contracts are exempt. Vodafone is merging with Three UK.
