Phased return: Starting Oct 20, 2025: 4 days/week for those currently at 3 days. Starting Jan 5, 2026: 5 days/week for all OPS employees. The government's rationale includes reflecting the current workforce landscape, enhancing productivity and mentorship, and supporting businesses that rely on foot traffic. Unions have criticized the decision, citing a lack of transparency and consultation, and expressing concerns about potential impact on recruitment, retention, and employee well-being. Employees with formal, signed remote work agreements will not be affected until their current agreements expire.
